The aircraft was not equipped with mandatory navigation equipment (GNSS) required for carrying out RNAV approach. The Captain told the F/O to request an RNAV approach. The crew planed to follow ILS procedure for runway 36R with intention to break off after acquiring visual with the runway and landing at runway 36L (in 1200m met vis). Runway 36L is 3,360 meters long and the primary runway at Lahore but at the time of the accident the ILS was NOTAMed not available due to CAT IIIB upgrade works in progress.
